Selon une source de Sinopec, un projet de démonstration de pipeline à hydrogène Ouest-Est a été officiellement inscrit dans le « Plan de construction du réseau national des gazoducs et oléoducs », marquant le lancement officiel de la construction du premier long pipeline à hydrogène du pays.
Reliant la ville de Wulanchabu, dans la région autonome de Mongolie intérieure (nord), et l’entreprise Yanshan Petrochemical à Beijing, ce pipeline à hydrogène de démonstration, qui mesurera plus de 400 km de long, disposera d’une capacité annuelle de 100 000 tonnes d’hydrogène dans un premier temps, puis de 500 000 tonnes potentiellement dans le futur. Il s’agit du premier pipeline à hydrogène interprovincial du pays.
Ce projet fait partie d’un plan intégral à long terme avancé par Sinopec visant à développer un système complexe intégrant des centrales éoliennes, la production à puissance électrique d’hydrogène vert et des pipelines à hydrogène visant à alimenter des raffineries et des véhicules, de sorte à posséder une chaîne complète de production, de stockage, d’acheminement et d’utilisation d’hydrogène.
Selon diverses sources, la longueur totale des pipelines à hydrogène à travers le monde a dépassé 5000 km à ce jour, mais la construction de pipelines à hydrogène se trouve encore dans la phase de démarrage en Chine.
Actuellement, les études sur la faisabilité du projet de démonstration ont été terminées, ayant fixé l’itinéraire, les problèmes techniques ainsi que le plan de construction.
